Imua Camper Company's VW campers are the perfect alternative to large, unwieldy RV's, and are at home on back roads as well as cities and towns. The VW Westfalia is easier to drive and park due to their compact dimensions and short turning radius. They perform much more like automobiles, and allow greater access to camping areas.
The Volkswagen Westfalia is ingeniously designed to make economical use of space, while at the same time providing a for a high degree of camping comfort. The refrigerator, gas stove, and sink with on-board water supply, are all located in one central cabinet area, which includes space for food storage and a little clothing/gear storage. The refrigerator is best run on propane, but will also run on DC battery supply, or AC campground hook-up. The rear seat folds down to a full size bed, and with a similar bed above in the pop-top, there is ample room for sleeping four adults. The pop-top roof also contains a skylight, and the camper has large windows for great sightseeing. Two swivel mounted tables are available in the "cabin" area and fold neatly out of the way when not in use.
The VW camper is equally at home in a tent site or an RV park, and many inexpensive and free campgrounds await: from simple, clean, and safe County and National Park campsites to privately-owned campgrounds with all of the amenities.
Our campers are all professionally maintained 1986 and later VW Vanagons with the camper conversion by Westfalia of Germany, and are adequately powered by a water-cooled 2.1 liter gasoline engine. Their size makes them far more maneuverable than larger RV's and at 20-25mpg they are much more economical to drive. While most of our campers do have air conditioning, due to the difficulty of maintaining the system, we can not guarantee that you will receive a camper with working AC. Most of our customers do find that it is unnecessary for the mild climate of Hawaii.
Obviously, our campers are not brand new. Some of our campers are now approaching their twentieth birthday and you can expect them to show some signs of cosmetic wear consistent with that of a busy rental vehicle. If you look closely at the pictures in our gallery, you might see them. We strive to keep it minimal and prioritize the repair of any damage that affects normal functions of the vehicle. We continue to use these older Vanagon models for their unique qualities of form, function, and affordability that cannot be found in anything newer.
